How to choose a moment when there were so many? From every seminar to every new meeting, we were thrilled to introduce the beauty and culture of Cardiff to our international guests. We are grateful for everyone who attended and opened their hearts and minds to explore the secrets of Wales, and to everyone who helped make this event possible.
The IALC, or International Association of Language Centres, holds an annual workshop that gathers language school professionals from around the globe. This year, we attracted around 135 study travel agents and 130 representatives, all here to network, stay updated with industry trends, and immerse themselves in Welsh culture.
Our FAM trips highlighted the best cultural experiences in South Wales. Visitors explored local gems like Cardiff Bay and Monmouth, and delved into Welsh history at places like Rhondda Heritage Park and Hensol Castle Distillery. These trips provided a comprehensive view of our rich heritage and natural beauty.
We kicked off the workshop with a Welcome Reception at Cardiff Castle. The event featured traditional Welsh poetry, dancing, and music, set within the majestic castle walls, providing a memorable start to the workshop.
Throughout the workshop, we ensured our guests experienced authentic Welsh culture. We hosted a party at our school and at The Pen & Wig pub, featuring Welsh clog dancing, singing lessons, local whiskey and cheese, harp music, and a performance by Only Boys Aloud.
The week concluded with a Gala dinner at the National Museum, featuring opera, a brass band, and a choir. Many of us ended the night dancing, celebrating the success of the workshop and the warm welcome we extended to our international guests.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Giorgia Biccelli, Sophie Wykes, Julia Patasheva, Olivia Morcom, Philip Harper, Menna Elfyn, Wynne Evans BEM MStJ, Craig Yates, Phylip Harries, Lord Mayor Bablin Molik, Councillor Keith M Dunn OBE CMLJ, Bethan Jones, Clare Dwight, Heledd Williams, Kat Hristova, Osian Williams, and Visit Wales.
The IALC Workshop in Cardiff was a significant event for Wales, showcasing our cultural heritage and hospitality. Stay tuned for our upcoming photo gallery and highlights video to see some of our favourite memories from the workshop.
